August Board Meeting Minutes

1. Registration update-  There are 60 players registered.  Budget was based on 70 players.  Larry will contact the parents who wanted to quit the team and try to find out why and attempt to keep them on the team.  Liz will contact club parents regarding outstanding issues with the club that may prevent them from being on RCIH.

2. Teams and coaches - The coaches are in place for all teams, this will be announced at parents meeting (September 8/NESZ)

3. Planning for Sept Parents Meeting -
-- meeting location, time:  9/8 @ 6:00 before tryouts at NESZ, no food or drinks will be provided. We can start to advertise that on the web site.

--  practice  & game schedules and locations .... schedules for Varsity are on-line, parents will be informed at meeting 

-- explaining fund raising items.: we will discuss with parents lottery and how the club will be trying to raise money with possible bus trips and the hockey blast. Kim  will have info  on some options at our next meeting. We will also ask parents for other ideas that have worked for them.

-- working up the invitation to the parents - Liz & Kim to arrange and send out a'mark your calendar' notice soon so that the parents can plan on attending.

-- finalizing the Parent's meeting agenda - will be done at our next Board meeting which was set for Sunday, Sep 7th, 6pm at Rizzo.

4. Date and plan for Beef & Beer  Board agreed will have it, but we will try to do beef it up a bit with a theme night, ie. Monte Carlo or Night at the Races, etc. We did not discuss a possible date yet.  Board discussed contacting the school, Galdo's and Waterfall room for initial information.

5. Team apparel & items: McGraff's to continue? Yes  Is this a fund raiser? Yes.
a) We will try to get an inventory together as well as having items to show to parents at the meeting on September 8.
b) David H to talk with Bob about better tracking and accounting of purchases, bills, etc.
c) Yes, we expect this to be a fund raising item... not a cost to the team.


6. Other items anyone wants to discuss.
a) Each board member is to sign up for individual addresses at YAHOO.COM then forwarding to Steve for website.
b) Also, discussed having players register themselves with USA hockey next season, this will save a good deal of money. 
c) We will be putting ads out in church bulletins to try and get a few more players and to advertise the hockey blast.
d) thinking about ways to enhance the web site to drive more kids and parents to it. .. maybe go back to posting game pictures and short summaries of games / highlights.
e) Regarding refunds: Board confirmed the registration fee is non refundable. Any boys who drop out before the season begins can get their payments (not reg. fee) back.

7. Setting date and time for the next Board Meeting. September 7 @6:00 p.m.
