Varsity:
Game one: Roman wins 14 - 8 after stepping back to watch. Roman was in control of the game going into the third period with an 11-3 lead. Being a bit over confident Roman allowed Upper Darby to get back to within three goals at 11 - 8. Roman went back to work scoring three quick gaols to win the game.
Game two: Roman wins 7 - 5 as Upper Darby has 7 players on the ice. The odds were stacked against Roman from the start, even with seven consectutive penalties called against them they were able to hold onto a 3 - 1 lead. In the second period, a tired Roman, gave up 4 unanswered goals. Following  the injuries of two players, one by a cross-check and the other a knee to the head and no calls against Upper Darby, officials could no longer ignore the abuse the Roman players were taking and called minor penalty when a player was thrown across the ice. Roman capitalized retaking the lead and the game.
Special Note: After Roman took the lead a puck was thrown at one of our players striking the ref in the face and no call was made. I wonder what kind of season Roman is in for?
Game three: Roman wins 5 -2 after a slow start. Roman's team came out flat in the first period and dug themselves a 2 - 0. After a short break between periods a new Roman seemed to be on the ice as the team settled down and took control of the game and Interboro to win 5 - 2. Roman showed that they could play as a team as every player contributed to the victory and they worked together as lines were juggled throughout the remaining two periods.
Game four: Roman loses 4 - 1 as team unity and self-control go out the window. In what started out as a strong team effort Roman's lose to Springfield showed that there is still a lot of work to be done. The players were swarming early and held onto a 1 - 0 lead. But as the game wore on the players seemed to laps into a state of self absortion as passing became a non-factor for the Roman team. This was soon followed by several "team" defensive errors and some bad penalties. This type of play easily lead to a four goal rally by Springfield resulting in a Varsity loss.
Game five: Roman wins 7 - 4 after being caught napping. Roman came out of the gate very strong taking a quick lead and coasting into the second period. But the team soon fell into a state of unconsciousness and awoke only to find themselves trailing. After a splash of cold water from our magic water bottles the team was able to get things back on track and retake the lead and the game from Bonner II.
Game six: Roman ties 7 - 7 in a tight defensive battle. Has anyone seen the defensive team play of Roman? In what can only be seen as a team effort to tie Roman got caught flat-footed. The Roman team gave up two - two goal leads - resulting in a tie that never should have been. Several mistakes were made deep in our own end costing the team a win. But one thing that must be noted this was definitely a team effort with everyone contributing. The only problem was that some of our team contributions were to Interboro. Guys everyone must play defense!!!!
Game seven: Roman wins 7 - 2 as everyone steps up their game. The guys from Roman started the game a bit layed back. But after ending the first period up by only one slim goal they turned up the heat and scored 4 unanswered goals to beat O'Hara.
Game eight: Roman wins 5 - 3 but takes a few lumps along the way. Roman was in control of the game from the beginning and Marple knew it so they started taking runs at the Roman team. The guys kept their cool and played the game the way it is supposed to be played by putting the puck in the net. Marple got the first goal on a team breakdown but the boys never let it bother them. They responded early in the second period with three quick goals and effectively shut down Marple. Roman gave-up a short handed goal early in the third period but responded with two goals of their own to end Marples hopes of a comeback.
Game nine: Roman wins 6 - 5 despite their best efforts. Roman came out flying and had a three to nothing lead before Ridley knew what hit them. At the end of one the score was 4 to 2 and the second period went by without any goals. After an inspirational talk by the coaches about trying to play tight defense and shutting down the other team the guys seemed to be getting the idea. But after two late in the period Roman gaols all of that went out the window as everyone was trying to score leaving our end of the ice open for the taking. The lack of defense accounted for three Ridley gaols in the last two minutes of the period. Allowing Roman to slip by with a slim 6 - 5 win.
Game ten: Roman wins 5 - 4 in a last second effort. Roman played a strong game, scoring goals in every period. But a third period lapse in their defensive play allowed Episcopal to come from behind and tie the game at four all. With a man in the box and only seconds on the clock  a shot from the circle resulted in a rebound shot that was laying in the crease just waiting for Roman to tap it in for the  5 - 4 victory.
